Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by John Swinton at 12 noon in Arts & Sciences Room 236.

Attendance

Members Present: Martha Allen, Scott Butler, Kevin Crabb, Esther Lopez, Mary Magoulick, , Amy Sumpter, Stephanie McClure, and John Swinton
Regrets: Cara Meade and Kay Anderson

Action Items
Approval of GC2Y Section: Theater for Social Change.
After review the Committee agreed unanimously to recommend for adoption the section Theater for Social Change as a part of the GC2Y B2 offerings. It was also recommended that Karen Berman be informed that it would be a good thing to try to offer the section this coming spring if possible.

Review of Paperwork for designating International Plan Courses as having Global Overlay status
John Swinton circulated paperwork that would allow the courses that currently are part of the International Plan to also count as Global Overlay courses. It was suggested by the Committee that the list be forwarded to all chairs to give them a chance to remove any course that they do not want to carry the Global Overlay designation from the list. Then the proposal will go to Dwight Call for his signature. After which, the proposal will go to the Provost’s office.

Information
John summarized the motions before CAPC that affect SoCC. In particular, CAPC will put forward a proposal that is worded, “We also propose that the wording of the current three global overlay requirement be changed from 2 in the core and one out of the core to no fewer than one in the core and no fewer than one out of the core.”

A quick check of the SoCC (UCC) web site shows that the GC1Y and GC2Y forms are switched. This should be corrected.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:20
