Action Items

MFLG (All Modern Foreign Language) 1002, 2001, and 2002 for Global Overlay
The committee continued its discussion on the proposal from Modern Languages and Cultures to designate the 1002, 2001, and 2002 foreign language as global overlay courses. The committee decided not to debate the merit of the courses themselves, but rather the principle of whether or not our students would get enough global exposure (as intended with the new curriculum) if they could satisfy two or three of their global overlay requirements while taking courses that are already a part of their BA or BS degree requirements. A majority of the members present advocated that students would be better serviced if they had to increase the global content of their coursework in other areas. Therefore, the committee voted not to consider MFLG 1002, 2001, and 2002 for global overlay status.

MATH 4010 History of Mathematics for the Global Overlay
After review, the committee requested that the first outcome statement be reworded to facilitate future assessment. The committee voted to approve this course for the global overlay with a vote of 9-0-0. This course will now be forwarded to CAPC and University Senate as an information item.

SOCI 3446 Social Stratification for the Global Overlay
Following discussion, the committee voted to approve this course for the global overlay with a vote of 9-0-0. This course will now be forwarded to CAPC and University Senate as an information item.
