Discussion Item
State of the Core Report. Cara reported on the subcommittee’s work to date. Committee is looking at issues of distinctiveness at Georgia College and current state of the core using survey data.
GC1Y and 2Y Rubric Review. The committee discussed some issues with the current rubric, including clarification on the number of pages required for writing. Cara suggested that we wait to revise rubrics until the state of the core report and recommendations are complete, especially since the committee’s work is almost complete this year.
Group Papers. One committee member questioned the use of group papers in core courses and asked if this could be a topic of discussion in a future meeting. The discussion progressed to consistency between 1Y and 2Y sections and other issues that need to be addressed in the state of the core report.
Feedback to Submitters. Brandon noted that he had a follow-up conversation with one of the submitters for one of the last GC2Y course the committee discussed. They had a good conversation, and the instructor expressed appreciation for the committee’s suggestion. Brandon suggested that incorporating follow-up between the instructor and team leader would be a good practice. Nancy reported the same experience.
SoCC Volunteers Needed. Julia would like for members to email her if they want to serve on SoCC next year.
