Subcommittee on Core Curriculum Minutes 2015-05-01

Call to Order

The organizational meeting for the Subcommittee on Core Curriculum was called to order by CAPC Chair Angel Abney at 2:30 p.m. in Arts & Sciences 2-46.

Election of Committee Officers

Angel Abney led the election of committee chair. Mary Magoulick was elected as committee chair.

Mary Magoulick then led the election of vice-chair and secretary. Roberta Gorham was elected as vice-chair. Kay Anderson was elected to serve as secretary.

Discussion Items

Committee Meeting Time. SoCC does not meet during the established Senate committee meeting time because several members serve on more than one Senate committee. For the Fall semester, the committee decided to continue its current meeting time of 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoons.

Membership. Chavonda Mills, who was recently elected as Senate’s Presiding Officer Elect, will need to be replaced on the committee. She represented Area D1 Science.

Retreat. Mary Magoulick asked committee members to attend the Senate Retreat on Tuesday, August 11. We will use that time to set priorities for the coming year.

Next Meeting

The committee’s first regular meeting will be Friday, August 21, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. Mary Magoulick will send the location prior to the meeting.
