Agenda

The agenda was approved as distributed. SoCC received a proposal for a GC2Y course on Captivity. This has been withdrawn and will be resubmitted next year.

Minutes

The minutes from the April 17th meeting were approved. The April 24th meeting was cancelled.

Because this is the last meeting of the year, today’s minutes will be distributed and approved via email.

Discussion Items

Cara has a rough draft of the report from the State of the Core subcommittee. She will distribute it by email to committee members and pass it on to next year’s committee.

The provost has purchased new monographs from AACU for next year’s SoCC members. These will be delivered through campus mail this summer.

A group of faculty will be sent to an institute this summer to work on core issues. They have been charged with bringing back recommendations on ways to innovate our curriculum. Concerns were voiced that this group did not include representatives from the humanities or writing.

Action Item

ACCT 3103 Intermediate Accounting III for the Global Overlay
This is a new course, and SoCC’s approval is contingent on the course begin approved through regular governance and approval processes. The course was approved with a vote of 9-0-0.

Adjournment

The committee adjourned at 1:40 p.m.
