Discussion Item

Committee members discussed the meeting of GC1Y instructors tentatively scheduled for October 23. It was recommended that the time be scheduled from 2-3 pm to allow maximum participation for faculty teaching in the MWF 1-2 time block. Health Sciences 144 was suggested as a potential location. Cara Smith will reserve the space, seek options for snacks for attendees, and send invitations to each instructor and to department chairs. Cara Smith, Nancy Beasley, and Jeff Turner will develop the agenda for the meeting.

October 30 was discussed as a potential date for a similar discussion of GC2Y instructors. It was recommended that similar logistics be used as for the GC1Y instructor meeting. Cara Smith, Mary Magoulick, and Stephanie Opperman will develop the agenda for the meeting.

Stephanie Opperman discussed a colleague’s questions regarding a potential GC2Y course proposal. The course is currently taught as a Special Topics course but focuses primarily on one country. The committee recommended that the instructor explore the possibility of course content from additional countries prior to submitting the proposal.
