Call to Order

The Subcommittee on Core Curriculum was called to order by Mary Magoulick at 1:00 p.m. in Arts & Sciences 2-51.

Agenda

The agenda was approved.

Minutes

The minutes from the February 5th meeting were approved. The committee did not meet on February 12th.

Discussion Items

Membership. The Provost has appointed Cara Smith to replace Noland White as her designee on the committee.

University Senate Report. Mary shared the report she will give at the University Senate meeting.

Overlays. The committee continued discussion on the global, critical thinking, US, and potential domestic diversity overlay options.

1Y and 2Y Review. The committee discussed options to do a review of existing 1Y and 2Y courses. One option was using faculty, including some current members of SoCC, who are currently teaching 1Y and 2Y to develop a process and conduct the reviews. Mary will speak with Costas Spirou about options.)

Forums. The forums for both Area B (combined) and C1 will be on Friday, March 4.

Next Meeting

The committee will meet on February 26, 2016, in A&S 2-51, at 3:30 PM.
