Notes

During the 2012-2013...

On behalf of:
Source Committee
Note:
During the 2012-2013 academic year, Catherine Whelan and Craig Turner were authorized by the 2012-2013 Executive Committee (at its 28 Sep 2012 meeting) to amend certain motions in the online motion database for consistency with the actions documented in the minutes of the University Senate. This motion (1112.CAPC.004.C) was among those to be amended. The following amendments for this motion are in order. While Motion 1112.CAPC.004.C was being considered by the University Senate at its 27 Jan 2012 meeting, a motion to amend sentence two of item 1 in the supporting document by replacing the phrase "Area A discipline" with "Area A and discipline" was made, seconded, and approved. Item 1 of the supporting document as amended should now read as 1. Remove the Writing and Speaking Overlays from the Cube, thus eliminating student learning outcomes 12-18. These outcomes are encompassed in the Area A outcome and should be assessed in Area A and discipline-related courses. Additionally, written and oral communication is also a priority in the newly proposed University Shared Learning Goals and thus will be emphasized and assessed throughout our students' entire undergraduate experience. This note was added by Craig Turner on 25 Nov 2012.
