Source Committee
Note:
During the 2012-2013 academic year, Catherine Whelan and Craig Turner were authorized by the 2012-2013 Executive Committee (at its 28 Sep 2012 meeting) to amend certain motions in the online motion database for consistency with the actions documented in the minutes of the University Senate. This motion (1112.CAPC.011.B) was among those to be amended. The following clarification regarding the first reading of this motion is in order. Amendments at first reading: A motion to amend the draft replacing “distributed a follows” with “distributed as follows” and replacing “Registrar, and ex officio” with “Registrar, who shall be an ex officio” in the section entitled Membership was made by Dr. Craig Turner and seconded by Dr. John Swinton. This motion to amend was approved. The relevant section (Membership) of the bylaws as amended during the first reading should read as follows. Membership: The Subcommittee on the Core Curriculum shall have ten (10) members distributed as follows: the University Registrar, who shall be an ex officio non-voting member, eight (8) selected from the Corps of Instruction faculty, at least three (3) of whom are elected faculty senators, and one (1) member who is the Chief Academic Officer or an individual appointed by the Chief Academic Officer to serve as his/her designee. For each college not represented from among the aforementioned three (3) elected faculty senators serving on the committee, the outgoing Subcommittee on Nominations shall nominate a Corps of Instruction faculty member from that college to serve on this committee. These amendments to the Membership section are accurately reflected in the supporting document "Motion to Amend at its Second Reading" wherein section numbers were added to place the language appropriately within the existing bylaws. This note was added by Craig Turner on 25 Nov 2012.
